Hi hi, my name is Grace, I’m married to Nick. We have two kiddos and I am at home with them all. week. long!
3 years ago we arrived in St Albans with all of our belongings and a 7 week old baby. We felt like ducks out of water with lots of new to adapt to: new parents, new home, new job. Phewph! Top of our to do list was to find a church family here – one that would welcome us in our tired, overwhelmed, ‘not-great-chat’ state and would teach us the important truth of God’s love, one that would feel like family.
We found that at Ridgeway Church. Immediately there was a warm welcome: we were brought cups of tea, assured of people’s care for us as parents and as ‘normal’ people. People were genuinely interested and interesting.
Since then we’ve been faced with more change, an 18 month age gap then juggling a refluxy newborn and family illnesses have brought their challenges. But, through this time, we’ve been reminded how good our God is through the kindness of our church family.
As we all know change is guaranteed and, if you’re anything like me, sometimes it feels like it’s constant. Days fly by, it’s nearly 2020 (a new decade! Remember 2000?!) and in the speed of it all it can be hard to feel enough. I can feel like I’m not achieving enough, making sure my children are stimulated enough/eating enough green things, my house is stylish and clean enough, I could go on and on, and that’s before I’ve even thought about other people!
God says in the Bible ‘my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’ so we are able to celebrate not feeling or being enough because God has given us his grace. What is grace? It’s not just my name! Grace is a gift from a loving God: an anchor for our souls through the storms of life.
If you aren’t sure whether to come and try Ridgeway Church I’d thoroughly encourage you to. It can be really hard getting out of the house on a Sunday morning but I’m sure you won’t regret it.
